NATURE BENASQUE VALLEY

The Benasque Valley is the most precipitous, well-hidden and beautiful valley in the Pyrenees, the mountain range spanning across the north of Spain. It is surrounded by the highest concentration of peaks of higher than 3,000 m ASL in the entire range, in particular Aneto (3404 m), el Posets (3,375 m) and el Perdiguero (3,221 m) to the north, as well as the massifs of el Turbón (2,492 m) and el Cotiella (2,912 m) to the south.

The valley has numerous rivers, lakes and boundless forests as well as a rich geography with more than 13 glaciers, 95 high-mountain lakes and waterfalls which, together with the area’s rich animal and plant varieties, led to the creation of the Posets–Maladeta Natural Park. Covering more than 33,400 areas of protected land, located between 1,500 and 3,404 metres ASL, this park has an amazing diversity of biology and landscapes, making it a first-class mountain destination.

The options on offer in the Benasque Valley for sports and outdoor activity enthusiasts are as diverse as its landscape. In summer, the mountains are replete with attractive spots for mountain climbing as well as hiking or mountain-biking route, not to mention paragliding, among others… And in Winter, snow sports enthusiasts flock to both the Aramón Cerler ski resort as well as the Llanos del Hospital cross-country ski resort.
